Everyone here at work has been hammering out this epic dragon slaying , rampantly smitey, monster filled, strange architecture encrusted bit of real estate for quite some time now. My part?
Drink lots of coffee, turn up the music and draw enough to fill volumes... that are hopefully inspirational enough for everyone to work on for a couple of years. Well, here's the results of everyone's blood, sweat, tears, and collaboration.
Enjoy.

And yes, we do get into arguments about elves.

Here's the originals for Fallout 3. Not to be megalomaniacal since everyone here made this game happen, but these two weapon designs are very special and dear to me... 'Scuse me, got something in my eye here, 'snif, snif'.. Ahem. See below for the continued magic as people I've never met in faraway places actually went ahead and fabricated them so they could be gleefullybrandished in pleasant public settings.
I hope they weathered up that hotel lobby with some empties....

When someone goes to the trouble to build one of your designs at home... Well, It's like Christmas morning. On a personal level, this is the best kind of award you can receive for working on a game.
For the uninitiated these weapons were initially concocted by me and the team for Fallout 3. The shishkesword had my brain in knots for weeks, and several trashcans full of wadded up drawings later getting that one was a real eureka moment... To say the sculptors in these pictures did them justice is a vast understatement.
Hats off for an awesome job done with... Love For Absurdly Wicked Weapon Designs! Thank you Thank you Thank you. See that Red Stripe next to the Laser Rifle? Next one's on me.

Video Game Idea Made For My Pals...

In Colorado. It's a videogame version of pachinko with a little main character hitting things. This was the Idea I wanted. It is brilliant and genius like. Now it's a part of my coffee table and covered with...filth. They went with a monkey. Which is cute and nice. I however, prefer cute and slightly menacing. With shrunken heads. On fire! And vaguely potty humor like names. Hmmmm.... Somehow the title needs to fit a toilet function.

Dragging my sorry ass to the drawing table and doing a watercolor a night. More like start 3 and improve on them all during the week best I can. The goal as always is to improve my draughtsmanship and lay down color and value right off the bat with confidence. And yes, I will do a whole series of "beer under different lighting conditions" paintings. Form, and function. Cheers!

the sculpture is getting more layers of Magic-Sculpt, which I like because it becomes hard plastic in about an hour. you gotta work fast, but it's pretty conducive to large pieces that'll hold together when you pile on more stuff... and yeah, the medium is about as toxic as you'd imagine...

Some repeats. I like drawing these with the Zig disposable rapidographs because they are filled with india ink that will not smear if your sketchbook falls into a pitcher of beer. Also, when I grow up I want to be as accurate and loose as Hokusai. As Richard Schmid says in his video

"Sometimes I like my paint to look like I threw it from across the room at the canvas, and it landed in exactly the right spot." Sargent compared painting to fencing, "have at you!", and I'm liking these analogies. Drawing is like chess to me sometimes, you make a move, and hope it works.

I love this guy. Cthulhu Now needed its heroes to fight the Lovecraftian monsters and he's the perfect foil to the Punk Girl with the Zippo Hairnet flamethrower. The idea was for her to rescue him from the BPO Elks Lounge, and far from being helpless would essentially be in video game language a "power up" in terms of booze, ammo and mistaking monsters for Normandy Beach Nazis. I ran the idea past Quinn about making an action figure that you could load caps into that would fire when you wheeled him around, the torso would swivel also, of course. Note the martini survival kit in the back of his ride.
Little Rascal indeed.

I'm doing this as part exercise from Eduoardo lanteri's Modeling the human Form book.

He's got one on building horses that is as exhaustive as any Hanes Manual for automobiles.

Short attention span theatre here. I keep starting new ones. I'm going to coat them with cellu-clay, a paper mache pulp that hardens over night into freaking concrete. you can get it at the Compleat Sculptor. Ask for Peggy Weitzmann and tell her Adam sent ya....They owe me, ha ha!

there's a Tony Ryder book that talks about the blocking in method for figure drawing that's been

conducive to speed and accuracy... Of course, some days go better than others. The Classical Drawing Atelier book by Aristides has also been very informative in this respect. These are straight ink, but I use the pens because I can ghost in the lines and pound in the ones I like.

Ink no smear, me like for that reason.

These books are my self imposed correspondence classes. Always on the lookout for great artbooks!

when I was working at my friend Quinn's company Evil Genius Games we were trying to get a Cthulhu game off of the ground. I still like these, and would like to rework them at some point to improve the colors and anatomy... These are storyboards of how we were going to introduce the Cthulhu horrors to a modern day northeastern seaside town. You can't lose with an oil rig prologue...

as the blueprints. Eventually this is going to get resined, sculpeyed and liquached from a pile

of stuff I got real reasonable at The Compleat Sculptor. Now they owe me for this plug.
